[Not connected to any Sam anywhere. Just me feeling really good about having written a prompt, even one so short. \o/ ]

He looks at her and sees someone who loves him unconditionally, something he can barely wrap his head around given the choices he's made. He sees the pain he's put her through, the pain he warned her would come. She deserves better, and he tries to push her away, but for some reason she pushes back. She's always there, waiting for him with open arms, forgiving each and every horrible mistake he makes. It's like she doesn't even see the darkness he knows is there.

He doesn't realize she sees him more clearly than anyone ever has. Her vision isn't as clouded as an older brother who only saw the boy he had taken care of his whole life, or a demon who only saw someone destined to lead them out of the pit. She saw someone like her, someone who was so many things to those around him, though none of those things were actually him. They were both just imperfect people who just wanted to be accepted for who they were.

If Lana can be that for him, she is more than willing.

Sam had stopped calling when he was in Smallville, not that he'd ever really done so in the first place. He would just randomly turn up, waiting on her porch after work, at the stables when she went to ride, in her office wearing nothing but boots and a trench coat. Sometimes he just let himself in and crawl into bed with her. This time, however, he was waiting for her in that bed, and it didn't take her very long to strip down and join him.

Lana knew she would eventually get the kiss under the mistletoe she'd asked for the Christmas after they met, she just had to be patient.

[POST @ MUSEBYSENTENCE]
manorsuperman: (omg!)
[ooc: For [livejournal.com profile] likely_evil, a Sam/Lana future fic with the prompt Snowball. The muses will hate me for this.]

Lana takes her place behind the tractor, scooping up the nearest patch of snow and quickly packing it into the most perfect ball she can manage. This week marks the anniversary of the day they'd met, the first one without an apocalypse hanging over their heads, and they celebrate with an entirely different kind of battle, one she's set on winning.

She loads up on ammo before carefully peaking around the side of the machine, looking for her man. He's doing the same over near the car, so she hides again, waiting, listening for the crunch of his boots against the snow.

When she thinks he's close enough, she stands and strikes the first blow.

Unfortunately, her aim is off.

Lana gasps and covers her mouth, staring in horror as she stares at Sam, hunched over and holding his groin.

"I am so sorry! Are you okay?"

He thought being with him would be the death of her, but thinking about life without him felt like it would kill her anyway.

"Um..."

Lana stood on her balcony, looking up at the stars. It had been many, many years since she'd attempted any sort of prayer. Since she'd learned the certainty of the existence of angels and demons, the subject had passed through her mind several times; this was her finally facing it.

"You probably don't care about anything I have to say." She gave a soft laugh. "I mean, who is Lana Lang?" She paused, pursing her lips before continuing. "There's obviously something big happening here, and the Winchesters are in the middle of it all." Another pause. "I know Sam—probably isn't your favorite person right now—and I don't exactly blame you for that—but he's a good man. He's really lost right now, but that doesn't mean he has to stay that way."

Lana took a deep breath. Her eyes were starting to water and it was getting harder to speak.

"Please...I'll never ask for anything else, just-bring him back from where he's going."

Do you catch a breath when I look at you?
Are you holding back like the way I do?
Cause I've tried and tried to walk away
But I know this crush ain't going away

It was nearing two months since she'd discovered she was pregnant. She was finally getting used to the idea of being a parent, even though it still scared her if she let herself dwell a little too long. She made every attempt to reduce stress, to take things a little easier, which meant less work and more sleep. The morning sickness was beginning to give way to random and sometimes very strange cravings, and there always seemed to be a man around trying to wait on her. Clark was the worst of them. If she could have punched him without hurting herself, she would, but instead she settled for scowling.

However, mood swings and unconventional pizza toppings were the least of her concerns.

While she carried the child of one Winchester, she was developing feelings for the other. It felt so wrong, given the situation, but she couldn't help herself. Sam was just someone she could sit and talk to for hours on end, intelligent and sensitive with the dorkiest sense of humor, but that's why he could make her laugh no matter which direction her hormones decided to drag her. There were times when he looked at her that her chest tightened and she could barely breathe, times when he touched her that her whole body would warm on contact. There were times when she wanted so badly to kiss him, even thought maybe he wanted the same, but she didn't. Her chance with him had gone with that one bad choice, so she would learn to ignore this, and one day, it would go away.

No, no it wouldn't. She'd be lying to herself if she said it would. This dancing around him was already driving her insane and it just seemed to be getting worse. Her mind told her she shouldn't, but she just had this suspicion that someday soon her mood was going to swing his way, and she had no idea how she was going to deal with it.

Lana took a sip of her coffee as she stared at what she knew was a two way mirror. Lex Luthor was dead and she was the prime suspect. The turn of the door nob caught her attention, and she watched as the tall black man swaggered into the room.

"Lana Luthor." He nodded to himself. "Guess you took the mentality along with the name."

"I didn't kill my husband, Agent Henriksen. Look at me. Do you really think I could manage something like that?"

"No, not alone." A folder hit the desk, Sam's Little Rock mugshot on the top of the pile. "I think your psycho demon-chasing boyfriend gave you a little help."

"Lex had plenty of enemies. Neither of us had anything to do with it."

Henriksen rested his knuckles on the desk and leaned forward. "If you didn't kill him, Lana, then tell me, what were you doing at the time of the murder?"

Lana leaned forward calmly, mirroring him, not at all intimidated. "Sam."

"Excuse me?"

She gave him a small grin. "I was doing Sam."

He looked at her in disbelief. "You're using sex as an alibi?"

She shrugged. "It's the truth." Her head tilted a little. "Tell me, Agent Henriksen, how did I manage to kill the great Lex Luthor when I was pinned to the bed of a hotel room? You've seen Sam. He's huge." She raised her eyebrows. "And I do mean huge."

He looked at her for a moment before pushing himself back up to a standing position. "You're as bad as Dean, you know that?"

Her grin grew into a smile. "I'll take that as a compliment."

Lana didn't usually speak so bluntly about her sex life, but Henriksen's reaction was well worth it.

[ooc: Chloe is [livejournal.com profile] reporter_chloe, Sam is [livejournal.com profile] likely_evil and Dean is [livejournal.com profile] winchesterjerk. And in case you're wondering—they actually did have this conversation after this little visit from Sam and I'm pulling things from their im log.]

We had sex. Just thought you'd like to know.

It took longer than usual for Chloe to answer the instant message.

...wha?

Lana rolled her eyes.

Sex. You know, that thing that people do naked? I had sex with Sam.

There was another delay. What was going on over there?
