[ooc: Sort of a companion piece to this from

Lana wasn't stupid. That small town girl might still be there, it might have been shining through since she'd met Sam, but she was older now. She was tired of being taken advantage of. She had an intuition about people, one she'd ignored so many times for hope that she was wrong―or maybe so she didn't have to be alone―and she was done with it. Ruby, despite her claims, set off those inner alarms full blast, just as Lana had expected.
True, the demon cared about Sam. It was never an act, but then, how much did it matter in the end? Affections were meaningless when one was that twisted. Lana knew that from experience, an experience that seemed to be haunting her now.
She hadn't expected Ruby to be so...alluring. It wasn't so much the body as the way she held it, the confidence she exuded. The attraction unnerved her, not simply because Ruby was a demon, but because she was another monster in a long list of monsters, human or otherwise, she'd felt drawn to. It said something about her, no matter how much Chloe told her it didn't.
Ultimately, that was the element that tipped the scale and pushed her to give into the seduction. Ruby offered her everything she wanted, in the long run as well as in the moment. She had the chance to be royalty, a queen―Sam's Queen. She would have the love she'd always wanted and that control she had always lacked over all the things around her. It wasn't without a price...but how much of a price was it really? There was no use running from who she knew she was. May as well let go and let herself fall.
