[livejournal.com profile] sunday_reveries :: I can barely tell the difference...

I can barely tell the difference between what is real and what I believe. For example, this letter in my hand-- I can feel it between my fingers. The paper is smooth, except in the creases. I can unfold it, and fold it again. As certain as I am sitting here now, this letter exists.
And yet.
In my heart, I know my hand is empty.

- History of Love

He was sitting at the edge of the bed, and she was straddling him, just like she always seemed to be. With kiss after desperate kiss they tugged at each other's clothing until their shirts were piled atop one another by his feet. Her eyes closed as his lips left hers and trailed down her neck and his hands slid slowly up her back.

"Sammy..."

Lana opened her eyes to find the source of the voice, a feminine figure shrouded in darkness, standing behind them with knife in hand.

He turned, too...then pushed her off to the side and crawled across the bed toward the shadow.

"Sam?" He ignored her. "Sam, what are you doing?"

She kept calling his name as she watched him take the knife, her voice growing more desperate as he lowered his mouth to meet the patch of skin he'd just cut.

"Sam!"

This time she wasn't calling to him, but to thin air, as she was now sitting straight up in her bed, all alone. It didn't take her more than two seconds before she broke down in tears and pulled her knees up to hug them tight.

She just wanted them to stop. No more nightmares. God, please, no more...

[ooc: I don't know if I'm going to count this for the Langchester verse just yet, as there probably needs to be some discussion about how much Lana knows as far as Ruby goes. All I know is this idea has kept coming back to me, and I'm just now writing it out. I think my muse has been having this nightmare (the explanation of why it keeps coming back up randomly) and I'm just now catching onto that fact.]
