In which there are awkward not-really!relationship tiems.
Home sweet home.
Well, almost. Smallville is, but she hasn't called the Luthor Mansion such for a very long time. Even knowing Lex isn't inside, going there is unnerving, staying there even more. She will never voice it. That is the past, and the past will stay there where it belongs. She won't let him keep ruining her life, especially not now.
Her visit is mostly business. The recent metahuman crisis have pulled her away from New York and back to Kansas, back to ISIS. Someone has to speak up for them, and she isn't about to wait for anyone else to do it. No matter how many have already stood up, they're severely outnumbered. The more support, the better. Of course there's also Lois, going on about things that had happened years ago, but that's of lesser priority.
Then there is Tess. Beautiful, intelligent, breathtaking Tess. Maybe the redhead doesn't think of herself as anything special, but it doesn't change what Lana sees when she looks at her. Somewhere inside her, she knows this has crossed over into something more than just a casual flirtation, than a night or two of fun here and there, but she doesn't really think about it. All she thinks is someone she cares about needs support just as much as the cause she cares about, and she will give it.
